Prof. Dr. Peter Gentsch, is one of the most prominent thought leaders in the field of artificial intelligence and digital transformation. For over two decades, it has combined teaching, research and entrepreneurship in the fields of digital management, data science
and AI. After completing his doctorate at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, he was initially a professor at TH Köln. He has been teaching at the HTW Aalen since 2004, today with a focus on Generative AI. He is also a guest lecturer at WHU and the University of St. Gallen.
In research, he cooperated with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Fraunhofer Institute, among others, particularly in the field of applied AI for business and administration.
As an entrepreneur, he has founded over ten start-ups, including the Business Intelligence Group (B.I.G.), DATAlovers, DTG – Digital Transformation Group, TextTech and most recently Retail.ai GmbH (2024). Several companies were successfully sold or integrated into larger units (e.g. USU AG, Diva-e). With initiatives such as the Social Media Excellence Circle, the CDO Club and the Retail AI Alliance, he has created platforms for innovation and knowledge transfer.
His work with leading companies such as Lufthansa, DHL, Bosch and Telekom has won several awards. He has supported companies in their digital and data-driven transformation in over 30 strategic projects. His books, including “AI in Marketing, Sales and Service” (Springer, 2019), are considered standard works in the field of applied AI.
Peter Gentsch is an internationally sought-after speaker with over 100 keynotes on stages such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, DMEXCO, the Economic Summit Germany and the Global Peter Drucker Forum. He regularly appears on TV shows and in the media when it comes to AI, digital business models and innovation culture.
